Our analysis

Keeping your newborn gear buying list in one place, communicating your exact preferences to friends and family down to the brand and model, and maybe saving money on the daunting expense of all the baby's essentials are all benefits of creating a registry. However, choosing a registration location can be challenging. You can either go all-in on one registry with everything you need, or you can try a few different baby registries at your favorite big-box retailers. (You may also use What to Expect as a Baby Registry Builder to get a tailored recommendation for the best places to register and what to include on your registry.)

Making an Amazon Baby Registry can seem like a natural choice because many expectant mothers already have an Amazon account. Almost all of the brands and goods you love are available on Amazon in one easy location. Additionally, there are discounts, freebies, simple returns, and free two-day shipping available on registry products. Discover why we believe it to be one of the top baby registries by reading on.

THE ADVANTAGES OF AN AMAZON BABY REGISTRY

DISCOUNT ON COMPLETION: You'll receive a "completion discount" if you register with Amazon. You receive a one-time purchase discount of 10% (or 15% for Prime members) on items from your registry. 60 days prior to your due date, you'll receive the notification, and you have up to 60 days after that date to take advantage of it. In other words, you can wait to buy expensive items like a cot, car seat, or stroller until around eight weeks before your due date or even place a large order after the kid is born. You can apply the discount to up to two orders totaling up to $2,000 on Amazon, which entitles you to a savings of up to $300. (Please note that in order to receive the discount, your registration must be active for at least two weeks.)

FREE 365-DAYS RETURN: You may return any unsatisfactory gifts for a full 365 days following the date of shipment if you change your mind. What's best? The gift-giver remains anonymous while you receive a credit. Remember that you, the registry's owner, have 90 days to return any baby items you've bought.

FREE TWO DAY SHIPPING: Orders placed with Prime automatically receive free two-day shipping. Make sure your registry orders total more than $25 to benefit from the free shipping incentive even if you don't have Prime.

UNIVERSAL REGISTRY: It's okay if the item you desire isn't available on Amazon. With Amazon's Universal Registry feature, you may now add things from other websites. Installing a straightforward registry button on your browser is simple and may be used whenever you like a goods on another website. The item is immediately added to your register.

WELCOME BOX: The Amazon Welcome Box is a terrific way to try out new businesses while receiving some free goodies (and who doesn't love that?) It includes items worth up to $35 for mom and baby, most of which are sample sizes that you may try out once your child is born. Every box has a surprising assortment of goodies, which adds to the pleasure. However, it is not something you automatically receive when you register for your registry. You must fulfill 60% of the requirements on the checklist generated when you register and be an Amazon Prime member (more details on that below). Additionally, $10 must have been spent by someone from your register.

HOW TO CREATE YOUR AMAZON REGISTRY

Its very simple to execute Click here to access the page. Click the "Create a New Baby Registry" button when you arrive at the main Amazon Baby Registry page. You will be asked for information such as your name, address, expected due date, shipping address, and preferences regarding who can view your registry. That is all that is required to set up a simple registration. There is an area for optional information if you want to customize your registration. You can specify whether this is your first kid, record the date of your baby shower, and write a sweet greeting to your loved ones who look at your list.

It's time to add products after the registration is ready to use. You can add them from the specific product pages or check out Amazon's Register Checklist, which displays the most popular items without ever leaving the registry website.

Simply click the install button to include the Universal Registry Button in your browser. When you locate something you like, visit the website of any merchant and click the button.

In order to see how simple the process is, we made our own Amazon Baby Registry. Spoiler: Although there were a few setup glitches, ultimately it's a good system.

HOW TO USE THE CHECKLIST FOR THE BABY REGISTRY

The "Checklist" button in the top navigation has a list of items, including the Registry Checklist. To make it easier for you to find what you need, it has twelve different product categories with themes like "Feeding" and "Nursery Bedding & Essentials." There is a ton of information to sort through here; if you want a registry checklist that is tailored to you and less overwhelming, visit What to Expect's Baby Registry Builder. If you click on each category, you'll see a list of subcategories.

Depending on the items you're wanting to add, a full page of items shows. You can rapidly add products that you're interested in adding to your registry by clicking the "Add to Registry" button on each product box. If you want to learn more about a product, click on the product for a full description, reviews and more.

When you've registered for everything you think you need in a subcategory (such as strollers), you can check the box next to the subcategory name (or Amazon will do it for you as you add items to your list from that subcategory). How much of your checklist you've finished is recorded by Amazon. (To be eligible for the welcome box, you must finish 60% of the list.)

The checklist may initially appear very overwhelming, especially if you start with the biggest items. There are several products to select from, as well as numerous categories to cover. The catch is that you don't have to choose a product from each and every one, though. By simply checking the box, Amazon will mark it as finished.

                  PROS

...You may save over $300 with free shipping and a completion discount.

...Any website's content can be added.

....Since almost everyone has an Amazon account, shopping is made simpler.

               CONS

...To receive the greatest number of benefits, you must become a Prime member.

...If you're not a Prime member, qualifying for the welcome box can be difficult and expensive.

...Finding the sign-up URL is challenging.

Overall, having an Amazon Baby Registry is worthwhile, especially if you're already a Prime member because of the savings and convenience. Since they undoubtedly do it on their own very frequently, the majority of your friends and family are probably at ease making purchases on Amazon. Amazon will even wrap the present for the customer. You benefit, and so do all the kind people who have given you gifts in the past.

If you know you'll need something incredibly specific from another website, like a blanket from Etsy or a cot from IKEA, the universal registry option is a fantastic extra benefit. Additionally, receiving the welcome box is enjoyable, but no mind-blowing samples are included (although, free stuff is free stuff).

Honestly, there is no excuse not to create an Amazon account. You've saved money even if you use it as your own secret baby gear shopping list and purchase a stroller a month ahead of schedule. You are under no compulsion to compile an exhaustive list of items or to fully fill out your Amazon checklist. The functions are available for you to use, if you so choose. And that's one of the registry's best features: It works to match your needs whether you do the bare minimum or put everything you need on the list.
